Renin

Renin

Reference Range

From 1/3/18 renin samples are analysed using the IDS iSYS direct renin mass immunoassay which will use the following reference ranges:

Ambulatory:  Female: 6.1 – 62.7 mIU/L,  Male: 9.0 – 103 mIU/L

Supine: 4.2 – 59.7 mIU/L

Screen positive for Conns: Aldosterone/renin ratio >91pmol/mU + aldosterone >750 pmol/L

(Endocrine guidelines on the investigation of Conns https://doi.org/10.1210/jc.2015-4061)

The Aldosterone/Renin ratio cut-off that we are providing is a guide only and not a diagnostic test and the ratio should be interpreted, cautiously, in conjunction with relevant clinical information and medications that may affect the ratio.

SARS-Cov2 IgG Antibodies (Abbott)

SARS-Cov2 IgG Antibodies (Abbott)

Reference Range

Negative -  No evidence of antibody response to SARS-CoV-2. This can indicate
no COVID-19 infection, very early infection, or infection in the
context of immunosupression.
An increase in antibody level can support a diagnosis of Covid-19.
Consider repeat testing in 14 days if confirmation of infection or exposure to COVID 19 is suspected

Any result should not affect compliance with personal
protection guidelines.

Equivocal - SARS-CoV-2 IgG antibodies: Equivocal by EIA (Abbott)
Inconclusive result, which may occur early in the infection or
could be non-specific.
An increase in antibody level can support a diagnosis of Covid-19.
Consider repeat testing in 14 days if confirmation of infection or exposure to COVID 19 is suspected

Any result should not affect compliance with personal
protection guidelines.

Positive - SARS-CoV-2 IgG antibodies: Positive by EIA (Abbott)
Consistent with current or previous Covid-19 infection.
Please Note result DOES NOT indicate immunity from future
infection or prevent current or future excretion of the
virus (infectivity).

Any result should not affect compliance with personal
protection guidelines.
