General Information

Screening for Chlamydial infections (and in tandem - N. gonorrhoea) is performed using a molecular technique, (NAAT). Specific Endocervical and male urethral transport swabs are required for this test. These swabs are available on request from the laboratory.

Urine samples are preferred; collection kits for urine are also available.

Please ensure that any deviations from the collection procedures are written onto the request form.

Please note, due to the procurement of new equipment this is testing method is not currently UKAS accredited. For further information, please contact the laboratory.

 

 

Information Sharing: If your sample needs to be referred or a notifiable disease is detected from your sample, your details and sample may be shared with the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA). This is a legal requirement. The UKHSA is sponsored by the Department of Health and Social Care.
